Novel method for identifying residual prestress force in simply supported concrete girder-bridges

چکیده

Testing methods are required for estimating prestress losses in Prestressed Concrete (PC) girder-bridges. They mainly include destructive approaches which cause significant damages. Conversely, dynamic nondestructive unsuitable. Given these findings, a novel method identifying residual force simply supported PC girder-bridges was implemented. Following the vertical load application three-point bending, estimates by measuring deflection at quarter or, alternatively, midspan of girder-bridge. The also requires information regarding its flexural rigidity. Particularly, initial tangent Young’s modulus must be evaluated compression tests on cores drilled and cross-sections after bending. In absence geometric and/or material properties, rigidity can estimated according to free vibrations. Secondly, comprises reference solution, or finite element model girder-bridge, is unknown. Thirdly, measured becomes parameter identification process. Accurate identifications obtained when deflection, under higher load, precisely determined using solution modulus. this article, simulated beam-bridge subjected time-dependent ≈9.5 months laboratory.

Prestressed Concrete Girder Bridges Using Large 0.7 Inch Strands

The National Bridge Inventory (NBI) includes more than 600,000 bridges within the United States of Prestressed concrete girder bridges represent one of the most widely used bridge systems. The majority of these girder bridges were constructed using 0.5 and 0.6 inch diameter strands. The main impediments to using larger strand diameters are: 1) bed capacities, 2) lack of structural knowledge reg...

Economical Steel Plate Girder Bridges

As a service to the bridge design profession, Bethlehem Steel has conducted hundreds of studies of steel plate girder bridges using its Preliminary Bridge Girder Optimization Program. The program is unique because it optimizes plate girder designs on the basis of least cost, not least weight. An evaluation of many study results leads to a number of guidelines which are offered in this paper. Wh...

Development of dynamic impact factor for performance evaluation of existing multi-girder concrete bridges

The dynamic effect of moving vehicles on bridges is generally treated as a dynamic load allowance (or dynamic impact factor) in many design codes. Due to the road surface deterioration of existing bridges, studies have shown that the calculated impact factors from field measurements could be higher than the values specified in design codes that mainly target at new bridge designs. This paper de...

Influence of changes in the prestress force on dynamic specifications of the prestressed concrete beam

Pre-stress techniques tend to increase cross-sectional capacity and optimize design. Such features have made these techniques rather popular. Over time, these structures tend to fail, and the reduction of pre-stress force over the lifetime of the structure is said to be one of the most significant destructive factors in these structures. This decrease in force occurs due to various reasons. In ...

Long-term Stress of Simply Supported Steel-concrete Composite Beams

The theoretical model to compute the long-term stress of simply supported steel-concrete composite beam was deduced. The model includes the effects of steel bars in concrete slab, concrete shrinkage and creep. The computed results agreed well with the test results. On this basis, the effects of factors such as concrete age to loading, longitudinal reinforcement ratio in concrete slab, concrete ...
